The Adventures of Sonica the Hedgehog

AN INTRODUCTION

Terios and Aurora led a peaceful, ordinary life on Christmas Island, content in their simple existence. However, on a very rare occurrence that doesn’t usually happen, the Master Emerald’s powers leaked below to the land below Angel Island. Usually these occurrences are harmless and its power would only phase into the earth through newly born life to give it strength. However, while this occurrence happened, at the same time, Aurora became pregnant with their daughter, and since her conceiving is considered “New Life”, the power phased into the unborn child instead. Soon after, Aurora began to feel an unusual surge of energy—an overwhelming force that seemed to protect her from harm, no matter where she went or what danger might arise. This newfound power puzzled both her and Terios. It was unlike anything they had ever experienced before, but they chose to view it as a blessing, a sign that their child would be special, touched by something greater than themselves. Since then, the unborn child grew together with the power that was blessed to it.

As for naming their child, Terios and Aurora argued to name her either Aurelia or Sonica (Since Aurora wanted to share a similar name to Bernadette’s son Sonic as a sign of their connection and that Terios wanted her name to have a bit of similarity to his wife). They reached a decision to give both names to her and thus her name being Sonica Aurelia the hedgehog instead.

What they didn’t know, however, was that their quiet life had caught the attention of others. The Echidnas (The remnants of them that are off Knuckles’s clan), ever watchful and wary of forces that could threaten their sacred duty, had noticed the strange energy surrounding Aurora. They recognized the power she carried, sensing an eerie resemblance to the strength of their revered Master Emerald. The Echidnas grew cautious, aware that the unborn child could be a potential threat—or perhaps a key to something much larger than they could comprehend. Their eyes, ever vigilant, began to focus on the family, unaware of just how deeply the unborn Sonica would shape the future.

On the night of Sonica’s birth, a resounding power surge was released the moment Sonica was finally born. This infuriated the echidnas as they believed no one should be allowed to wield the power of the master emerald, concerning the tragedy that could repeat itself relating to the emerald’s powers, should the power fall to the wrong hands. They then decided to invade their home and take the child away. Terios refused to back down and fought off the echidnas and escaped with his wife and child. However, outnumbered and exhausted, Terios prayed that at least his child and wife are spared and that he’s willing to sacrifice himself to protect them. Since Sonica has the same powers as the Master Emerald, the prayers were heard and her cries became a prayer answered and granted Terios the ability to use chaos powers. As he gained these new powers, he fought off the Echidnas but it was not enough to stop them. As an act of desperation to save his family, he tore a dimensional rift and threw the echidnas into it, along with himself, trapping them in another dimension and ensuring the safety of his family should the echidnas try to force their way back to their dimension.

Sonica in turn grew up without knowing much about her father. The only thing she knew off was the stories her mother shared with her about her father’s sacrifice and how much he loved her but this unfortunately left her with a sense of strong longing for her father’s affection which in turn affected how she looked at herself. She in turn, was unable to look at her red eye as it reminded her too much of her father, this in turn made her hide it by wearing contacts instead, until she decided to reveal it to Shadow. She grew up becoming a very loving and strong willed hedgehog who fights injustice along with her cousin Sonic since they were only 8 years old. However, her powers are not fully matured at the time and she was not aware of what she’s truly capable off.

At the age of 10, Sonica awakened her chaos powers and was able to use unique chaos abilities such as Chaos lance, Chaos shield and Chaos heal. However, during this period, she lost her mother to an incurable disease called “Rheumatoid arthritis”. This inspired her to become a doctor that can cure any form of illness with her intelligence and also her miraculous chaos powers.

At the age of 12, Sonica became the youngest doctor / scientist ever to exist on Mobius and was able to cure many forms of illness that were considered incurable before her time. This also includes the disease Maria was suffering from called “NIDS - Neurological Immunological Deficiency Syndrome”. Her abilities in biology and chemistry made her famous and widely sought out when it comes to new discovered illnesses.

Though Sonica's appearance mirrored Sonic’s, her personality stood in stark contrast to his free-spirited nature. While Sonic was known for his carefree attitude, Sonica carried herself with a sense of responsibility and maturity far beyond her years. Her free-spiritedness was tempered with a thoughtful, grounded approach to life, and it was this blend of traits that separates her from Sonic.

Unlike Sonic, Sonica did not give her trust freely. She listened more than she spoke, watched more than she acted—quietly studying the hearts of those around her before deciding whether to let them close.  She did have her moments of joy, but they were gentler than her twin cousin’s brilliant flashes of energy. Her laughter was softer, her smiles slower to bloom. When she was carefree, it showed not as wild excitement, but as calm warmth—moments of reflection, of simple contentment that settled like sunlight.

Yet there was one thing she never hesitated over. When someone was hurt or fell ill, Sonica moved without question or doubt. Pain stripped away pretense, and suffering could not lie. To her, it was a sacred truth— “there is no falsehood in the face of pain or sickness.” And in those moments, her guarded heart opened fully, guided not by caution, but by compassion.

Sonica didn’t share Sonic’s remarkable ability to run at the speed of sound. She couldn’t match his pace in a race, however thanks to Maria’s and Dr Gerald Robotnik’s creation of the air shoes, Sonica was able to run faster than most. Her passion for knowledge and her love of quiet moments gave her a sense of purpose that was uniquely her own. Whenever she could, she would bury herself in research books, eager to learn more the signatures of life.

The quiet moments she treasured most, however, were those spent with Shadow. Together, they would sit in their favorite flower field, surrounded by lilies—flowers that held special meaning for both of them. In the stillness of the night, with only the soft rustle of the lilies in the breeze, Sonica would reflect on the memory of their dear friend Maria but also always remembering her late mother, Aurora. It was a place where the weight of the world seemed to fade, and they could find peace in their shared memories and quiet companionship.
