Chapter 1 - The event that Started it all

Hey everyone! I'll be showcasing the first chapter of my OC's AU! I don't have a specific AU name but it will follow based on which part of the book it is. This is the story I thought off almost 16 years ago and only now I decided to share it. Please be kind as it's my own personal story between my OC and the Sonic Universe.

So until now, do enjoy the first chapter of my AU Story!

Chapter 1 - The event that Started it all

It was another typical day for Sonic and his friends as they made their way to one of Dr. Eggman’s lairs on Mobius, ready to foil yet another of his evil schemes. But this time, as they neared the lair, they noticed something that instantly caught their attention—an ominous machine was attached to the Master Emerald. Concern swept through the group as they realized this could be another one of Eggman’s devious plans. Determined to stop him, they wasted no time and prepared to launch their attack.

Just as they were about to strike, Eggman activated the machine, triggering a violent reaction. In an instant, a rift tore open in space and time, sending Sonic, his friends, and anyone in the vicinity hurtling through it. They were pulled into a strange, chaotic vortex that transported them not just across Mobius but to another time—an era before the world was even called Mobius. While the rest of the group was sent into a “Past-Present timeline,” something unexpected happened to Sonica. She was flung across time, landing on an unfamiliar territory.

When Sonica regained her bearings, she found herself standing in a vast, sterile environment, unfamiliar and foreign. Almost immediately, she was met by a wary figure—Shadow the Hedgehog. His sharp, red eyes studied her with suspicion, and without hesitation, he demanded an explanation for her sudden and strange arrival. Confused, Sonica remained silent, sizing up Shadow, her instincts telling her to be cautious as she observed his every move.

Sonica and Shadow’s first encounter on the Ark 53 years ago

Before another word could be spoken by Shadow, a soft voice called out, and Maria Robotnik entered the scene. Shadow instinctively stepped in front of Maria, protecting her from Sonica’s unfamiliar presence. It was clear that Shadow didn’t trust Sonica, but Maria, calm and gentle, stepped forward and offered a peaceful presence. As the two exchanged glances, Sonica’s medical device beeped in response to the mention of a “critically ill” life form nearby. Intrigued and concerned, Sonica quickly surveyed her surroundings, her thoughts racing as she tried to figure out who the device had detected.

Before she could investigate further, Maria suddenly collapsed Shadow, her body slumping as exhaustion took its toll. Shadow reacted instantly, catching her before she could fall. Sonica’s medical training kicked in, and she immediately recognized who the ill person was. Stepping forward, she offered her assistance, suggesting a diagnostic to determine what was wrong with Maria.

Shadow, ever protective, refused her help, his distrust of Sonica evident. Sonic responded angrily at Shadow that this is not the best time to argue and that Maria needs medical attention. But Maria, weak yet determined, reassured Shadow. “It’s ok Shadow” she whispered softly, calming him down with her gentle words. After a brief moment, Shadow relented, stepping aside to allow Sonica to assist Maria.

With Maria’s consent, Sonica quickly began her analysis. She asked Maria about her symptoms, to which Maria responded with a sense of resignation. “I already know what I have, it's called NIDS” she said, her breath shallow and labored. Surprised by Maria’s calm knowledge of her own condition, Sonica asked, “You knew? Why didn’t you do anything about it?”

Maria let out a short, labored breath. “Because we don’t have a cure yet. My grandfather...he’s working on it.”

Sonica’s heart sank as the realization hit her like a ton of bricks. Knowing there is no cure for NIDS yet, Sonica finally realised she had been sent to the past—far past. Quickly, she asked, “What year is it?”

Maria’s voice was barely a whisper as she answered, “It’s 1947.”

Sonica was stunned. This was far more than just a strange rift in time—it was a leap over into the past, a time completely disconnected from the world she had known. She felt a pang of worry for her friends, hoping they were safe and still battling the threat Eggman had posed.

As she stood there, contemplating the gravity of the situation, Maria gently took her hand, pulling her from her thoughts. “You shouldn’t stay here in the open,” Maria said, her tone urging Sonica to follow her. “Let’s go to my room. We’ll be safe there from the other scientists.”

Sonica, still processing the enormity of what had just happened, agreed. For now, she had no choice but to temporarily provide her trust to Maria and follow her. As they moved deeper into the Ark, Sonica couldn’t help but wonder what the future held and if she would ever find a way back to her own time.

Until then, she will need to find a way to adapt into her new environment and these new people she meet.
